Ron Kohut manages our Sonoma County office. Ron has extensive trial experience in large complex civil trials. He has been a member of the faculty of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. His practice focuses upon disputes involving contract, real property, consumer, winery and employment disputes, as well as complaints by government agencies.
Prior to founding Kohut & Kohut LLP, Ron was the Partner in Charge of the Orange County office of Kindel & Anderson, and formerly was the Managing Partner of the Ontario office of Best Best & Krieger LLP.

Sarah Kohut is licensed and practices in both California and Washington states. Her practice encompasses all aspects of general litigation with particular emphasis on representing and defending businesses in consumer litigation, including unfair competition and class action disputes. Sarah also has extensive experience in enforcing corporate arbitration agreements.
Prior to joining Kohut & Kohut, LLP, Sarah was an associate with Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger in Orange County. She graduated from Loyola Law School in 1998. In 1994, she graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara, with honors.

Leigh Herman returns to Kohut & Kohut LLP, after a brief, 10 year absence during which she represented governmental interests. As a Deputy County Counsel for San Mateo, Leigh represented a number of different governmental entities, including law enforcement, human resources and environmental planning. During that time, she tried over 100 cases. Leigh won two awards for work “above and beyond” from Sheriff Don Horsley, and another from the San Mateo County Probation Department. She was also presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors in April 2007, nearing the end of her tenure.
Prior to her work at Kohut & Kohut LLP, Ms. Herman worked for a number of years at Morrison & Foerster, bringing in her own clients to establish a litigation practice, and, prior to that, at Brobeck, Phleager, & Harrison.
In addition to trial work, Ms. Herman specializes in employment matters, all matters involving law enforcement, civil rights, and dispute resolution.
SIMINA PLOSCAR, Of Counsel simina@kohutlaw.com
Simina Ploscar has experience in business litigation, corporate transactions, and
commercial law. She has advised business clients in the United States, Europe and
Thailand on matters involving international trade practices, business transactions,
the development and formation of businesses, and contract drafting and negotiation.
Simina received her J.D. from Titu Maiorescu University School of Law, Bucharest,
Romania, and her Masters of Law with honors from the University of Southern California,
Gould School of Law in 2005. After receiving her Masters of Law, Simina spent two
years working as an attorney for Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher LLP, in Los Angeles.
Simina is licensed as an attorney in Europe, as well as California. She is familiar
with both civil and common law systems, and possesses basic communication skills
in French and Italian.
